Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and Senior Congress Leader M. Veerappa Moily on Monday May 2 expressed ire at the Centre with regard to lack of coordination between Energy, Coal and Railway Ministries. It is at its lowest and as a result common man is suffering, he stated.
In a statement, Moily reasoned that increasing power demand over the years being reason for the shortage of coal. States are also blaming rising global prices of coal, which mainly affects railway rakes, he observed.
States rich in coal reserves such as West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha have alleged that they have been financially deprived as law on State getting royalty on coal was by the NDA with now money going to the Centre, he informed.
”The Coal Ministry vouches for availability of coal, while Energy sector is not getting the same. Who is to be blamed,” he questioned. This shows lack of coordination between Ministries, he alleged.
