Complaint filed against CM, ministers over false allegations against Upalokayukta

Bengaluru: Claiming that false allegations were made against Upalokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi, a complaint has been filed against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Law Minister T B Jayachandra, Co-operation Minister H?S?Mahadeva Prasad, Congress MLA from Narasimharaja constituency Tanveer Sait and Congress Chief Whip Ashok M Pattana.

Siddaramaiah's letter to Irani appeals for IIT in Raichur-1The complainant Ramamurthy Gowda of Bengaluru in his complaint stated that chief minister and his party MLAs have criticised the orders passed by Upalokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi saying there were allegations of corruption against Justice Adi.

There were several other allegations made by other MLAs and political leaders that the Upalokayukta had violated rules and passed orders to favour certain people. These allegations were baseless and made without having any evidence. Therefore, their claims amount to contempt, Gowda said.

The complainant has requested to invoke Section 17 of the Lokayukta Act, which reads “The Lokayukta or Upalokayukta have same jurisdiction powers and authority in respect of contempt and may exercise the provisions of the Contempt of Courts Act, 1971.”
