Confusion Erupts in Bengaluru’s Benson Town Over Sudden PIN Code Change
A wave of confusion has swept through Benson Town, Bengaluru, known for its colonial charm and tree-lined streets, after a sudden change in its postal PIN code. Residents are now facing the challenge of reconciling the new PIN, 560006, with their long-standing records, which still list the old code, 560046.
The disruption began last week when residents started receiving postal items with the new PIN code, which aligns with the JC Nagar post office. However, the official India Post website still shows the old PIN code as valid for Benson Town. This inconsistency has caused considerable distress, especially since the change was implemented without prior notice.
The affected areas, including Nandidurga Road, Jayamahal, SK Garden, Chinnappa Garden, and Williams Town, have all been impacted. For decades, the residents have identified with the 560046 PIN, and the abrupt shift to 560006 has raised concerns about the potential impact on official documents, mail deliveries, and daily activities.
While the post office claims that 560006 is now the official code, many residents point out that old signage and official documents still display 560046. The shift has raised fears that if the change is officially recognized, residents will face difficulties updating their addresses on crucial documents like Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, bank accounts, and passports, leading to possible delays or mistakes in mail deliveries.
