Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Tuesday March 1 claimed his government was committed to completing the Mekedatu project across the Cauvery River while slamming the opposition Congress for organising a ‘padayatra’ (foot march) seeking its implementation.

Speaking to mediapersons here he accused the grand old party of doing nothing for the project’s implementation when in power, saying that it had no moral right to raise a protest now.

“Congress is protesting today because they were unable to implement the project during their tenure. They were unable to even prepare a DPR for the Mekedatu project, and now they are asking that the project be implemented immediately. We (the BJP) have made progress during our tenure and are determined to complete the Mekedatu project,” CM Bommai remarked.
