Bengaluru: A conmen allegedly posing as ACB officials has conned Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Ltd (Bescom) Superintendent Engineer Shanthamallappa S. T.

It is meant that Shanthamallappa received a call on the night of Thursday last week from a man who identified himself as Ravishankar, the Deputy Superintendent of Police of the ACB stating that he would raid his house. Further, Shanthamallappa was asked to apply for casual leave on a particular day, also giving him an option to transfer Rs. 1.44 lakh in two instalments of Rs. 72,000 to an online account for stopping the raid.

However, Shanthamallappa said that he would not be able to transfer such a massive amount. Post that when conman asked Shanthamallappa to meet him at the headoffice with the cash, Shanthamallappa reported the incident to his senior colleagues who too said that they had received similar calls.

The police are now trying to zero-in on the accused based on the mobile phone number used to call the officials.

The Halasuru Gate Police Friday last week has filed an FIR and initiated a probe.
