Mysore : Various organisations in Mysore staged a protest on Tuesday April 22 condemning the brutal killing of  Jokatte  resident Kabeer (23) by ANF personnel near Shringeri  check post. The organisations also condemned the assault on Kabeer’s family members by Bhajrangdal activists while they had been to Shringeri to get his body.

In the protest held at Gandhi Circle under the leadership of Social Democratic Party of India, Shivakumar said it was an unpardonable offence on the part of the  ANF to gun down  a cattle transporter after mistaking him for a Naxal. He said  there is no information of  any police case registered against Kabeer in the past.

The fact that  Kabeer suffered bullet injuries on his chest  rather than his back if the ANF contention that they fired at him while he tried to escape, gives room for doubts, Shivakumar said  and demanded justice to Kabeer family.

He also warned that the organisation will resort to a  severe protest if action did not follow against the ANF personnel responsible for firing at Kabeer and also against the Bhajrangdal activists who assaulted Kabeer’s family members.

In the meantime, the Communist Party of India staged a protest in front of the DC office, while the Karnataka State Cattle Traders and Workers Welfare Committee, Christians Welfare Forum, PUCL, DSS, Karnataka Dalita Vedike and other organisations staged protest near the Dr BR Ambedkar Statue in front of Town Hall.
