Bengaluru: Fearing flash protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), 2019 and the proposed NRC, the state police has issued prohibitory orders across Karnataka. All the security forces have been asked to stay on high alert fearing state-wide protests from like-minded organizations and minorities.

According to the police order issued separately by the Commissioners of Police (COPs) and Superintendents of Police of every district, all kinds of protests, rallies and speeches on the CAA and NRC have been prohibited by the state government.

“It is an unprecedented move. For the first time, the state government has banned all kinds of protests, which is against the very concept of democracy,” said sources.

Hawk’s eye on anti-social elements: According to the police, security has been tightened in major cities including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Kalaburugi, Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharwad, following intelligence warning of flash protests.
