Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hinted on Tuesday November 30 that more restrictions would be imposed across the State to prevent the strain from spreading.

While speaking to mediapersons, CM Bommai informed that the government must manage things on two levels to stop the pandemic’s further spread, citing the emergence of clusters throughout the State and the threat of a new variant ‘Omicron.’

He informed that instructions have been given to increase the number of tests per day. “The Health Minister will convene a meeting with officials and experts, the outcomes of which will be conveyed to me after which we will be able to make decisions based on the current circumstances,” he stated.

However, he did rule out the idea of the State being placed under the lockdown again. He said that the Government is not considering a lockdown or any other measures that have been suggested. “At this time, there is no question about that. Normal public life should continue, but Covid norms should be followed in places where people gather as well as the organisations that host such events. We’re taking extra care where clusters have emerged, and we’ll keep a close eye on such areas,” he added.
