Bengaluru: BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta on Thursday January 27 has held a virtual meeting with health officials directing them to take aggressive steps to stop the spread of Covid – 19 in the City.

Following a review of case trends over the previous week in all eight zones, he said, “In all zones, there has been a 30 per cent decline in the number of cases. The positivity rate has dropped from above 25 per cent in the last week to between 17 per cent and 20 per cent. However, the caseloads in BTM Layout, Malleswaram, HSR Layout, and Konankunte wards are high. As a result, strict containment measures should be implemented in these areas,” he said.

He instructed officials to map RAT and RT – PCR positivity rates throughout all zones and report any increases in positivity rates. “On the seventh day, all cases who were contacted and marked as home isolation shall be discharged on the platform,” he said.

Mobile triaging units should focus on triaging 10 per cent to 15 per cent of overall caseloads, and all cases recommended to hospitals or Covid Care Centres (CCC) for admission should be physically triaged on the same day.

He asked officials to identify the number of CCCs required since most patients are in home isolation and therefore, staff should be deployed from those CCCs where there is no occupancy.
