Bengaluru: Close on the heels of the BSY government announcing a Marata Board, DCM Laxman Savadi and a few other leaders met the Chief Minister and demanded for a Lingayat Development Board, on Monday morning.
Later, the DCM said that Veerashaiva-Lingayat community too has many economically backward families. A Board dedicated for the cause of the Veerashaiva-Lingayats will help them in a big way.
“The community will be helped socially, economically and academically,” the DCM said.
Ministers V Somanna, BC Patil, MLA Rajashekar Patil among others met the CM.
Meanwhile, MLA Basavaraj Horatti has demanded 16 per cent reservation for the Lingayat, while welcoming the formation of a Marata Board.
The CM had recently announced a Marata Board and the same was crticised by many.
