Bengaluru: In a heart-wrenching incident, a four-month pregnant woman was found dead in Yalagura village, near Alamatti of Nilagunda taluk in Vijayapura. She was found with her throat slit, on Wednesday, November 7, and now rumours of honour killing are doing the rounds.

According to the police, the victim is Renuka (22).

She married a man named Shankar Nayak two years ago. Since the two hailed from different communities, her family posed a stiff resistance to their marriage.

Due to this, Renuka, who originally hailed from Shiravara village in Manvi taluk of Raichuru district moved to Vijayapura with her husband.

When she became pregnant, she contacted her family members and told them about her whereabouts and invited them to her house.

It is said that Renuka’s entire family, including her brothers, came to her house in Vijayapura and left on Tuesday night. However, on Wednesday, Renuka was found dead when her husband was out for work.

“We suspect the role of her family members who were not happy with her marriage to Shankar,” said police sources.

Shankar, in his complaint to the police, informed that on Wednesday morning, he saw some unknown persons roaming near their home. “My wife’s family members were threatening to kill us since the day of our marriage. We suspect their role in her death,” Shankar informed the police.
