Bengaluru: In an apparent protest against the alleged defacement of the Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji statue in Bengaluru, a group of around 12 unidentified people has allegedly broken window panes and smeared black ink on three buses operated by the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at Khadki. A FIR has been filed in this regard at the Khadki Police Station.
According to a press release issued by the Pune City police on Monday December 20, the three KSRTC buses were parked in an open space near the Ordinance Factory in Khadki when a group of men arrived on two-wheelers and two cars around 2.00 pm on Sunday.
They allegedly shouted slogans and smashed the windows of three KSRTC buses. They also used oil paint to blacken the buses. Police informed that before fleeing the scene, they painted protest phrases on the buses.
The accused have been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 143, 148, 149, 336, and 427, as well as the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Prevention of Defacement of Public Property Act.
The case is being investigated by police Sub-Inspector Shailaja Shinde.
