Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Monday April 4 sought a response from the state government on a delay in reaching 112, a designated National Emergency Number, due to a “flawed” Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), in response to a PIL filed by a resident of Nagadevanahalli in the City.

The hearing has been postponed till April 11 by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice S. R. Krishna Kumar.

The petitioner, N. T. Arunkumar, who argued on his own, explained the problems he experienced when attempting to contact 112 regarding blackmailing by an unknown person through WhatsApp call and chat, stating that it is difficult to reach 112 if somebody is in distress.
