Devotee Cheated of ₹25,000, Promised Early Darshan at Tirupati
Bengaluru: A fraudster deceived a devotee of ₹25,000 under the pretext of securing early darshan at the Lord Venkateshwara temple in Tirupati. The incident occurred on Tuesday when Santosh Kumar, a devout worshipper of Lord Venkateswara, was eagerly trying to obtain tickets for the Tirupati Venkateswara temple online. Little did he know he would fall victim to fraudulent activity by an unknown individual.
According to reports, Santosh was browsing the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) website in hopes of securing darshan tickets at the renowned temple. During this time, he encountered an unknown person who claimed to be able to assist him in obtaining the highly sought-after tickets.
Trusting the individual’s words, Santosh deposited a sum of ₹25,000 into the person’s account with the promise that he would receive the tickets shortly. However, after making the payment, all attempts to contact the individual were in vain, as the phone was switched off.
Realizing he had been scammed, Santosh promptly reported the matter to authorities at Bagalgunte police station. A case has been filed against the unknown person under charges of fraud and cheating.
A police official stated that they are currently investigating the matter and working towards identifying and apprehending the culprit responsible for defrauding Santosh.
