Bengaluru: Kannada film distributors, exhibitors and producers on Saturday staged dharna in front of Innovative Film City under the leadership of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu demanding Kannada artistes and technicians not to take part in reality shows organized by TV channels.

Speaking with media persons, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce president Sa Ra Govindu said the reality shows have an adverse impact on the box-office collection of Kannada films. “Kannada films are not faring well at the box office due to the reality shows organized (telecasted) by private TV channels. Kannada producers, who invest crores of rupees to make Kannada films, are not getting their money back. We want Kannada artistes and technicians not to take part in reality shows. We will meet Ravichandran and Sudeep and other artistes and convince them not to participate in reality shows,” Govindu said.

Blaming some TV channels for telecasting the episodes of realty shows repeatedly, Govindu said the TV channels should change the telecast of the realty shows from 9 pm to 10 pm. “Some of the TV channels told me to inform it to all TV channels. I told them to have some self-regulations in telecasting the episodes of reality shows,” he said.

He said the TV channels have reduced purchasing satellite rights of Kannada films. “I want each of Kannada TV channels to purchase a minimum 50 Kannada films,” he said.
