Bengaluru: Some of the rebel MLAs of Karnataka are facing a peculiar problem. If sources are to be believed then a few rebels are being grilled by the voters for shifting loyalty without seeking their permission.
One of the rebels who has faced the heat is H Vishwanath, one of the senior-most leaders of JDS, who quit the party and joined hands with the BJP. Now, he is the BJP candidate from Hunsuru in the upcoming by-polls.
As Vishwanath is meeting voters and telling them why they should vote for him, the voters are asking him a question in return, for which Vishwanath does not seem to have an answer. “Why did you quit the JDS without seeking our permission,” the voters are reportedly asking the leader.
“You were in JDS. It is the same party that made a lot of promises for the welfare of the farmers. How have the lives of farmers changed when the JDS was in power. Now, why should we vote for you? Did you even take our permission before making such an important decision of quitting the JDS,” the voters have been questioning Vishwanath.
It is said that the situation went out of control at a placed named Shravanahalli and finally the police had to intervene. A similar scene took place even in a place called Doddahejjoor. Vishwanath has been telling the voters that the coalition government was not supporting developmental works in his constituency and hence he decided to quit the party and join the BJP, which has promised the development of his constituency.
It is said that it is not just Vishwanath who is facing this problem. Several other rebel leaders too have been posed with this uncomfortable question as to why they decided to quit their own party without seeking the permission of the people who voted them to power.
