Bengaluru: Around 30 MLAs, mostly from Belagavi and Ballari stayed away from the dinner party hosted by major irrigation minister DK Shivakumar in UK 27 hotel in upmarket Sadashivanagar of the Belagavi city on Tuesday night.

Ramesh Jarakiholi and his supporter MLAs didn’t attend the party. Another team of MLAs from North Karnataka also stayed away from the dinner. Only around 45 MLAs close to DKShi attended the dinner.

According to the sources, minister hosted the dinner party to prove his popularity among the state MLAs which backfired.

“This dinner idea was not approved by senior leaders including former CM Siddaramaiah, DCM Dr G Parameshwar and KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao,” said a party leader.
