Bengaluru: The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has decided not to allow Mastigudi director Nagasekhar and stunt master Ravi Verma to take part in film activities till they pay compensation to the families of Anil and Uday who drowned in Thippagondanahalli reservoir during the climax shooting of Mastigudi film.
Speaking to media persons at Kanteerava Studios, Sa Ra Govindu, President, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, said the two lives were lost to due to the negligence of the director and stunt master of Mastigudi. “They did not take any precautions during the shooting. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has already banned them from participating in film activities. There is no question of allowing them to do so till they pay compensation to the families of Anil and Uday,” Govindu said.
He said that both have to decide on the amount of compensation to be paid to the families of Anil and Uday. “They have to inform us on the quantum of compensation they are ready to pay. The executive committee of film chamber will take a decision on whether to agree to their proposal or increase the compensation amount,’’ he said.
He criticised Nagasekhar and Ravi Verma for absconding instead of surrendering to police. “I am planning to meet Mastigudi producer Sundar who is in Ramanagara prison,” he said.
Appreciating the gesture of Duniya Vijay who spent three days at Thippagondanahalli reservoir and cooperated with search teams, he said the film chamber would take a decision on the lifting of ban on Vijay.
