Bengaluru: Congress leader and legislator from Kanakapura constituency DK Shivakumar was criticised by the BJP for starting work on erecting the tallest statue of Jesus in his home constituency. However, responding to the criticism, DKShi trained guns at the BJP in general and BJP leader Ananth Kumar Hegde in particular and said that he needs to learn no lessons from trivial people who were out to burn down the constitution.
BJP veteran leader KS Eshwarappa had said that DKShi had unveiled the statue of Jesus just to please the Congress high command Sonia Gandhi. He had mocked at DKShi and said that now that DKShi got the statue done from his own money, even Siddaramaiah cannot stop him from becoming the KPCC Chief.
On the other hand Anath Kumar Hegde too took to twitter and made some scathing remarks. Calling DKShi, a ‘Tihar returned gentleman’, Hegde said that DKShi was trying to appease the lady from Italy to ensure that he gets a post within the party.
“No surprises if more such slaves plunge into fray to appease the Lady from Italy,” Hegde said in a tweet.
Responding to the same, DKShi said that he believes in secular values and he needs no lessons. “It is my duty to respect all faiths and beliefs. That is the reason I took up this project. It is a historic work. Ananth Kumar Hegde is now jobless and that is why he is talking whatever comes to his mind,” said DKShi adding that he had helped Hindu temple projects too in his constituency and the project of erecting the statue of Jesus was conceptualised at least two-years-ago.
