Bengaluru: According to sources, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is mulling to restrict those who have not yet received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccination from entering parks, shopping malls, or theatres.  On Wednesday December 2, the BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta said that the order would take effect immediately.

In view of the new Omicron Covid-19 variant being found in some parts of the world, a State-level Technical Advisory Committee urged proactive measures to boost the number of people taking second doses.

In recent weeks, Bengaluru has also experienced an increase in the number of cases, which had remained steady at around 1000 a week. Bengaluru also saw 1,177 cases on November 30, rising from 977 the week before. On a week-to-week basis, the positivity rate had increased from 0.45 per cent to 0.50 per cent.
