Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar has come in support of former minister Vinay Kulkarni and said that there is political conspiracy behind the detention of Congress leader Vinay Kulkarni in connection to Dharwad Zilla Panchayat Member Yogesh Gowda murder case.
Addressing a news conference in Bengaluru, on Thursday, DK Shivakumar said that he had held a talk with Kulkarni about the same.
“From an outset it looks like Kulkarni is being targeted by the local BJP leaders who are trying to finish his political career. When I visited the region, many had expressed their anguish over the way the probe is being conducted,” he said urging the CBI officials to carry on the probe in a judicious manner, without succumbing to the political pressure.
He opined that similar developments has happened in the case of former home minister KJ George.
“He was also harassed, but now they have given B-Report in DySP Ganapathy case. Political scenes are never the same. I request the CBI to function within the legal framework while conducting probe,” he said adding that the BJP leaders must be rejoicing now with the detention of Kulkarni.
“Let me tell you, we have faith on the constitution and the law of this country. Our leaders have not committed any mistake. They are paying a price because there are many out there who are trying to finish our leaders politiclaly. The BJP thinks it owns all the investigating agencies of the country,” DK Shi said supporting Kulkarni.
