Bengaluru: The State Election Commission has written a letter to the state government to start preparations for the election to the 101 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) tenure of which will end in 2019. Among the corporations going for the election, the Mangaluru City Corporation is also included.
According to the letter written by the commission to the state government, the term of the Mangaluru City Corporation is expiring on March 12, 2019. Beside these Moodbidri town municipal council is also going for election.
A senior officer of the state urban development department informed that once the tenure of the elected body gets expired, the commissioner will be appointed as the administrator. ‘There may not be any possibility of election to any of the ULBs before the Loksabha election 2019, which will be held around March-April and May 2019,” he said.
“The election commision sent a detailed proposal on holding the election,” he informed.
