Election to DCC banks postponed by 6 months; Govt to take over administration

Bengaluru: In a surprise move which is expected to help the BJP to take control of the District Central Co-operative Banks, the cooperative department postponed the election to these banks for six months. Instead of elected members and an elected president, administrators will take control of these banks.

An announcement in this regard was made by the cooperative minister ST Somashekar. “The farming activities started across the state after good pre-monsoon rainfall. Due to the COVID 19 situation, it is not wise to hold elections now. So we decided to postpone the election,” he stated.

According to sources, officials from the cooperative department will be nominated as administrators. The elections are expected to be conducted once the COVID 19 crisis resolves itself to more manageable proportions.
