Bengaluru: In a big embarrassment to BJP and pro-Hindu organisations who have vehemently opposed the Tipu Jayanthi celebrations few of their party leaders across places were seen attending the event.
The celebrations, held amid tight police vigil have been largely peaceful with no untoward incidents, except for stone pelting incident reported from Madikeri and Puttur in the state.
However in a big shock for the BJP and RSS, several BJP leaders from Ballary and Bidar attended the Tipu Jayanti, including Hosapet MLA, BJP strongman from Ballari Anand Singh.
Singh who arrived at the event organised at Hosapet in saffron shirt spoke in Urdu. Shahapur BJP MLA Guru Patil also attended the Tipu Jayanti and praised the Tiger of Mysuru.
In Kodagu Tipu Jayanti was peaceful. Even though BJP and Hindu organisations called for the bandh, it was a flop show. One Puttur bound bus was stoned. But no injuries reported.
