Bengaluru: Former Minister K. S. Eshwarappa may have been “framed,” said BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, who also made clear that the death of contractor Santosh Patil should be investigated from all angles.

Singh expressed confidence that Eshwarappa will be found not guilty once the investigation is completed.

Speaking to mediapersons at the BJP executive meeting he said that Eshwarapp has been framed to some extent. “We must also consider Congress’ role,” he said, noting that the contractor’s civil works were completed in a constituency represented by a Congress MLA.

“Eshwarappa is one of the party’s tall leaders who has worked hard to bring the party to this level,” Singh remarked.

Eshwarappa resigned from the Cabinet on Friday April 15 in connection with Patil’s alleged suicide in a hotel room in Udupi. Patil claimed Eshwarappa demanded a 40 per cent cut to release funds for the work he had completed.
