Bengaluru: A 22-year-old girl from Mangaluru was allegedly eve-teased, assaulted, abused and was thrown liquor bottles at by two youngsters in 7th Block in Jayanagar on October 20.
The victim hailing from Mangaluru works with a PR firm in Bengaluru. A week after the assault took place, the victim tweeted on social media site Twitter on Monday evening around 8 pm and posted a plaint. She had come down to the city around a year ago and was staying with her relatives in Jayanagar 7th Block.
Speaking with sources, she said, “I was heading towards gym around 7.30 pm when two boys who were consuming liquor at 11th cross began passing lewd comments at me. Soon, one of them threw a coconut at me while I was crossing the place where they were standing. I chose to ignore them and continued walking. But, to my shock, the other boy threw a liquor bottle at me. When I confronted them, the two boys who must be aged around 17 years, came charging at me with abuses while one of them even slapped me. What was even more shocking was there was a man standing nearby who stood as a mute spectator.”
The victim claimed that she escaped and headed towards the gym immediately, but the eve-teasers followed her on their two-wheeler and threatened her. She then went to the gym informed her instructor about the incident. By the time she came out with him, the duo had managed to escape from the spot.
“I did not complain to the police on the same day and as I had a long weekend and festival, I headed to my native Mangaluru. I came here on Monday morning. After I shared this incident with my friends they directed me to post it on social media following which the jurisdictional police called me. I will be filing a formal plaint in this connection on Tuesday,” added the girl.
