Bengaluru: With just a day to go for the Rajya Sabha election, the JD (S) has shifted its MLAs to a hotel in the Whitefield area to prevent horse-trading and poaching by the ruling BJP or opposition party Congress.
Based on former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s appeal for a vote on conscience for the party’s second candidate, JD (S) decided to shift its MLAs to the hotel.
Voting will be held for four seats. Six candidates are contesting for these four posts.
BJP has enough numbers for two seats while Congress also has enough numbers to ensure the victory of one candidate. However, the third candidate of BJP, the second candidate of Congress, and JD (S) backed independent candidate Kupendra Reddy have made the contest interesting.
All the three parties issued a whip to their MLAs to ensure that there is no cross-voting.
