Bengaluru: Chaotic scenes broke out in Padarayanapura gain, when corporator Imran Pasha, who tested positive on Friday evening refused to go to designated COVID-19 hospital along with the BBMP officials who reached out to him.
The police filed an FIR against Pasha following a complaint by the BBMP officials that the corporator and his supporters tried to spread the corona virus by not co-operating with the officials. The supporters too gathered in large numbers violating the social distancing norms.
It is said that at first Pasha said that he would not go to the hospital, instead remain at home and take all precautionary measures.
All the efforts of the officials to convince him to go to the hospital considering the fact that Padarayanapura is a containment zone with 65 positive cases fell on deaf ears.
What worsened the matter were the supporters of the Corporators who favoured his request. Finally, the corporator was admitted to Victoria Hospital.
The area where he lived was cordoned off, and about 15 people were quarantined, including his family members, driver, housekeeper and supporters whom he was in contact with.
It is said that Pasha would move around the containment zone with no personal protection and may have contracted the virus.
