Bengaluru: Five judges have been appointed to the Karnataka High Court. They are Kempaiah Somashekar, Kotravva Somappa Mudagal, Sreenivas Harish Kumar, John Michael D’Cunha and Basavaraj Andanagouda Patil. The judges are likely to take charge next week.
As many as 34 names out of the 77 recommended by the collegium for appointment as judges in various high courts in the country were cleared by the Centre. The five judges in the State were appointed from the district judges’ category for a period of two years with effect from the date they assume charge.
While Somashekar, Mudagal and Kumar are the district principal and sessions judges, D’Cunha is Registrar General of Karnataka HC. He was also a judge for special court. Patil is Registrar (Vigilance) of the HC.
