Bengaluru: City police has arrested five people for selling ganja near Ullas theatre in RMC Yard Police Station limits and seized eight kilos of ganja from the accused.
The police have identified the accused as Shankar (27) of Heggenahalli, Gautham (18) from Laggere, Deepak Burman (21), Upendranath Burman (35) and Arthon Mandal (45) of Yeshvantpur in Bengaluru. After receiving information about the sale of ganja near Ullas theatre, the police rushed to the spot and took Shankar and Gautham into custody, seized 550 grams of ganja worth Rs 50,000 and two Pulsar bikes from the accused.
Based on the information given by the accused, the police arrested Deepak Burman (21), Upendranath Burman (35) and Arthon Mandal (45). During interrogation, the police found that three accused, hailing from West Bengal, were staying in huts put up near Golden Grand Apartments. The police said that the three accused used to cultivate ganja at vacant places and give to Shankar and Gautham to sell it to people. The police have seized 7.5 kg of ganja worth Rs 3.50 lakh from the three accused persons.
