Bengaluru: Former IAS officer Sasikanth Senthil is all set to join the Congress party.

As per sources, Senthil, who hails from Tamil Nadu will join the party on Monday in a formal programme in Chennai, in presence of Tamil Nadu state in-charge Dinesh Gundurao.

It may be recalled that S Sasikanth Senthil, a 2009 batch Karnataka cadre IAS officer was the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district when he resigned from the civil services in 2019, citing moral conflict in continuing to serve under the ruling BJP government at the centre.

He had said that it would be ‘unethical’ to continue as a civil servant when “fundamental building blocks of diverse democracy are being compromised”.

This move of Senthil had come in after the centre abrogated Article 370 in Kashmir. He had since then been in the forefront fighting against CAA, NRC etc.

Though he had not spoken about his political aspirations, he has confirmed to a Kannada news daily that he is joining the Congress party.

Former IPS officer K Annamalai had joined the BJP in Tamil Nadu recently.
