Bengaluru: Minority dominated Shivajinagar Assembly constituency is witnessing an interesting political development. After a snub by the BJP, disqualified MLA and former minister Roshan Baig backtracked from contesting. But now he has decided to support the BJP candidate to protect the interests of his supporters and leaders.
According to the sources, Baig met CM BS Yediyurappa for 15 minutes on Tuesday and discussed the poll strategy. It is said that during the meeting, Yediyurappa explained the reasons for denying him the party ticket.
The CM is believed to have convinced Baig to remain calm and wait for his turn. It is also said that the CM has promised financial help for the development of Shivajinagar constituency, which Baig represented till recently. All the six Palike wards, which come in Shivajinagar assembly segment are also represented by staunch supporters of Baig. Hence getting Baig to support BJP candidate can have a lot of benefits as well and BJP is cashing on the same.
