Bengaluru: Former prime minister and JDS supremo, H D Deve Gowda has accused the BJP of using the Sabarimala issue for political gains in South India.
Speaking to reporters in the city, he alleged that in the last four-and-a-half-years the BJP leaders were silent about the Ram Mandir issue in Ayodhya. “Now they started the agitation. They are dividing the society for political gains. They are following the same tactics in Kerala and other parts of South India by raking up the Sabarimala issue,” he alleged.
“Keep religion and related issues away from politics. The BJP remembers God and Hindutva only at the time of the elections. But the people are now matured. They will teach them a lesson,” he said.
“The BJP destroyed all the independent organisations including RBI, CBI, ED, IT etc. Modi is taking the country towards disaster,” he added.
