Bengaluru: During his city visit on Tuesday, district in-charge minister Ramalinga Reddy took BBMP officials to task for uncleared garbage at various places in the city.
The minister directed officials to clear the garbage found at 11th Cross, Srirampura and beneath the Namma Metro line within a week and warned the area’s chief engineer, assistant engineer and assistant executive engineer of sending them back to their parent departments.F
Taking zonal commissioner Lakshminarasiah to task, the minister said, “Is this the way you work? The Upa Lokayukta has issued a notice to BBMP on the garbage issue. Despite that, you (officials) have not learnt a lesson,” he said.
He also asked BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik to issue a showcause notice to them. He also directed the officials to fill potholes within a week.
To meet the drinking water demand of the city, Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will be providing Rs 4,500 crore loan for the Cauvery drinking water scheme which will cater to the newly added areas of Bengaluru, including 110 villages. The Rs 5,500 crore project seeks to meet the drinking water needs of people on the city’s outskirts which were earlier under city and town municipal councils, Ramalinga Reddy informed.
