Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered the State Government to seek Cabinet approval for the plan to clean up the Pachanady solid waste dump in Mangaluru.
According to sources, a division bench on Wednesday February 23 comprised of Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Suraj Govindaraj ruled that the government must get Cabinet clearance at a meeting scheduled for Thursday February 24.
The State’s Additional Advocate General Dhyan Chinnappa said that the Cabinet approval will be given either on February 24 or the following Thursday.
The bench had urged the Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner to attend the hearing as he can put pressure on the government to execute the work quickly.
The government has rehabilitated all those who were affected by the dump landslide, Chinnappa added.
The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for February 25.
