Bengaluru: The state government has revised its order which permitted only 50 per cent occupancy in theatres at the request of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.

Given the drop in Covid-19 cases, the state government had allowed theatres to operate in full capacity. However, with the recent surge in cases, the state government imposed strict guidelines to contain the second wave.

Theatres across eight districts, Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bidar and Dharwad were ordered to follow the 50 per cent occupancy rule.

With the revised order the earlier rule of 50 per cent occupancy in theatres will come in effect from April 7.
