Bengaluru: The Health Department has directed all hospital heads to go around the wards thrice a day compulsorily to ensure strict vigilance.
In a circular dated December 6, the Health Director has asked all medical superintendents, resident medical officers and nursing superintendents grade-1 in all district hospitals to mandatorily go around the wards thrice a day, one at a time, every day.
In taluk hospitals, administrative medical officers and nursing superintendents should take up this task. If any untoward incident take place in the hospitals, these authorities will be held accountable, the circular stated.
Recently, a syringe-wielding man under the guise of a doctor allegedly threatened a patient and snatched her gold chain at K.C. General Hospital. In another incident, a D-group employee at the Government Hospital at K.R. Puram was arrested for allegedly taking pictures of a patient while she was undergoing an ECG procedure. The circular has been issued in the wake of these incidents.
Meanwhile, the department has also asked all hospital heads to get more closed-circuit television cameras installed in the hospitals and ensure adequate number of security staff are deployed round the clock.
