Bengaluru: Gauri Lankesh Hathya Virodhi Vedike has decided to observe September 5 as ‘Gauri Lankesh Day’ in fond memory of the slain journalist. Besides this, the Vedike has plans to start Gauri Balaga (groups) in every district so as to keep the fight that Gauri stood for alive.

The meeting of the Vedike was held in Bengaluru where Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Dinesh Amin Mattu, who was a close associate of Gauri said that there is a huge reader base for Gauri’s newspaper.

“This newspaper was Gauri’s bread and butter as well. We are working out ways to make sure that the government runs the newspaper. We want to make sure that justice is render to Gauri even in this way,” said Mattu.

Vedike Convener K L Ashok said that another meet will be convened in December to oppose Gauri Lankesh murder. “We have set December 5 as deadline to nab the murderers of Gauri,” he said.

Gauri Lankesh, who was known for her anti-establishment stand, specifically targeting the BJP and the RSS was shot dead at her residence in Bengaluru on September 5.
