Govt prepared to effect changes to PTCL Act: CM Bommai

Bengaluru: On the 131st birth anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday April 14 declared that his Government is prepared to effect changes to the Prohibition of Transfer of Certain Lands (PTCL) Act, 1978, following the Supreme Court’s order. This means that there will be no time limit for SC/ST community members to apply before the authorities for the regrant of their lands disposed in the past to other community members, violating the rules.

“A circular has already been issued and our Government is committed to implement the SC order soon,” CM Bommai assures. The programme was held in the Banquet Hall at Vidhana Soudha here. The Government has also increased the financial assistance from Rs. 15 lakh to Rs. 20 lakh to those SC/STs who want to buy the agricultural land.

CM Bommai emphasised that his Government is committed to transform the downtrodden’s lives through work and people should guage his Government through the same yardstick.
