Bengaluru: Minister of Primary and Secondary Education B. C. Nagesh said on Wednesday March 30 that several partnerships are being formed with private companies to provide vehicles to ferry students from government schools.
Canara Bank donated two Maruti eco mini-vans to the Department of Education as part of their corporate social responsibility project on Tuesday, informed the Minister.
“It is essential for private and community players to work together with the government to improve facilities, especially in government schools. Several initiatives have been launched in this regard by the School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC). The provision of vehicles to help students to reach school is part of a bigger drive in the state to develop government model schools,” he said.
He further said that government schools, particularly in rural areas, will be selected as model schools since they have proper buildings and facilities such as a playground, computer lab, and other facilities. Hiring teachers will be prioritised to increase education quality, and that transport will be provided by private players to encourage students to enroll in these schools.
“The goal is to improve the quality of education in State Government schools, make teachers available in all languages and subjects, promote competitiveness, and make full use of infrastructure,” he said. He asked private companies, associations, and organisations to work with the government on transport and school development.
