Bengaluru: Minister for Infrastructure Development and Housing V. Somanna has informed the Legislative Council on Wednesday March 9 that the government will speed up the process of starting work on the Bengaluru Suburban Rail project.
The project was approved by the Centre in October 2020, and work has begun on four corridors: Bengaluru City to Yelahanka to Devanahalli (41.40 km), Baiyappanhalli to Chikbanavara (25.01 km), Kengeri to Whitefield (35.52 km), and Heelalige to Rajanakunte (35.52 km) (46.24 km), he said.
“There has been some delay in getting the work started, but they are trying to speed up the process. For the second corridor, a tender has been issued, and a foundation stone laying ceremony will be held soon by inviting Prime Minister,” the Minister informed.
