Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai announced on Friday April 22 that the government will follow the court’s orders regarding the use of loudspeakers in mosques and that everyone should follow the law.
Speaking to mediapersons here, he said that the police have already issued a circular to this effect and that meetings will be held at the police station level. “There are regulations about how many decibels (sound) that should be there. A circular has already been issued by the DG (Director General of Police),” he said.
Bommai also said that instructions were given to have a meeting at the police station level to handle the matter carefully and that process is currently underway.
Several Hindu outfits have demanded that mosque loudspeakers be removed and that the Supreme Court’s noise pollution order be followed. They’ve also threatened to play bhajans every morning unless mosques’ loudspeakers are removed.
