Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister H. D. Devegowda on Monday February 14 urged those considering leaving the party to reconsider their decision.
“It’s still not too late. The party leaders should work together,” he said. He was referring to some of his party’s MLAs who are rumoured to be considering joining the Congress.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that the party will ramp up its efforts to strengthen its presence across the State, which it has already begun. “Every month, the party leaders will visit at least two districts. It is not enough to declare that we will win 123 seats. We need to work towards it,” he added.
“The Janata Jaladhare water campaign has already been taken up by H. D. Kumaraswamy. He’s also holding several meetings with the party’s leader,” Gowda said.
“The JD (S) has assured Congress leader C. M. Ibrahim that he will be considered for the party president’s job when the next elections happen,” he added.
On speculation that Kumaraswamy will contest the next Assembly election from Chamundeshwari, Gowda said that the JD (S) Legislature Party leader will not abandon Ramanagara and Channapatna.
“The party held a legislature party meeting to discuss legislative session strategy. The JD (S) will focus on development issues and expose the corruption that occurred under Siddaramaiah’s leadership under the Congress regime,” Kumaraswamy said.
