Bengaluru: It was only last week that JD(S) Supremo and former prime minister Deve Gowda had stated that former DCM and Minister PGR Sindhya was soon going to re-join the JD(S). However, as per sources, Sindhya’s comeback will be punctuated with a party ticket for the upcoming polls from Varuna constituency.
This constituency has become a cynosure of all eyes because of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s attachment to it. This time, the CM, who is keen on initiating a political debut of his son Dr Yatheendra has decided to field him from Varuna.
Speaking to News Karnataka, a senior JDS leader informed that H D Deve Gowda who wants to sweep Vokkaliga strong belt of the state i.e. Mysuru, Tumakuru, Mandya, Hassan, Chikkaballapura, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Rural and Kolar wants to tie CM Siddaramaiah in Varuna and Chamundeshwari to ensure that JDS can perform well in the rest of the constituencies. “P G R Sindhya is from Marata community which has no presence in Varuna. But OBC votes are decisive in the constituency for which Marata community belongs. If H D Deve Gowda can pump Vokkaliga votes to Sindhya, it is not difficult to defeat Yathrendra. The BJP will swallow most of the Lingayat votes. This is the master strategy,” he said.
Meanwhile, on Sunday around 8 pm, P G R Sindhya met H D Deve Gowda at his residence. JDS state president H D Kumaraswamy was present. H D Deve Gowda briefed him about Varuna constituency, informed sources.
