Bengaluru: CM Kumaraswamy’s wife Anitha Kumaraswamy has registered landslide victory in Ramanagar and scripted history- one as the candidate to get highest votes so far in the history of Ramanagara and other as first woman MLA to have been chosen from the constituency. However, now the HDK-Anitha Kumaraswamy couple will script yet another history together.
When Anita Kumaraswamy enters the state assembly to attend the winter session, which is expected to be held in Belagavi, in the month of December, the two will create a new record in the history of the state assembly by becoming the first couple elected to the state assembly. Already former minister Ramalinga Reddy and his daughter Sowmya Reddy have created a record of the first daughter-father duo in the assembly.
According to the assembly authorities, till now no couple has been a member of the assembly. “Wife entering the assembly after the death of the husband or on other circumstances is very common, but for the first time a couple will attend the assembly together,” said an officer.
This is the second stint for the Anita as an MLA. Earlier, she was elected to the state assembly in 2008 from Madhugiri in Tumakuru.
