Bengaluru: Sensing a defeat following a surge in the fortunes of the Congress party in the Ramanagara District, Former Chief Minister and JD (S) Leader H. D. Kumaraswamy announced that his wife Anita Kumaraswamy will not seek re-election from the Ramanagara Constituency in the 2023 Assembly election.
This constituency was once represented by H. D. Kumaraswamy himself. Later, he vacated the seat for his wife Anita.
“Party will finalise a new candidate for this constituency. Anita is not contesting,” he stated.
According to the sources, Congress State President D. K. Shivakumar and his MP brother D. K. Suresh are planning to field a strong Muslim candidate from this constituency which is expected to pose tough competition for Anita.
He also stated that he is involving his family in the JD (S) to save the party from sinking.
