Bengaluru: JDS state president HD Kumaraswamy is known for taking unpredictable decisions. Until Tuesday his party was in favor of the no-confidence motion moved against state legislative council chairman DH Shankaramurthy. But Tuesday night, in a party meeting chaired by HD Kumaraswamy, it was decided against supporting the no-confidence motion.
According to the JDS sources, HDK who is facing the fear of arrest by SIT which is investigating the Jantakal mining case doesn’t want to face the wrath of BJP state and central leadership. “DH Shankaramuthy is an influential leader at BJP national leadership level. If JDS supports no-confidence motion against him, it will definitely irk the party. HDK’s first priority is saving himself from any action by SIT or central government in the illegal mining case,” said sources.
Meanwhile Congress which has moved the no-confidence motion is trying to win the motion through winning the hearts of former prime minister HD Devegowda. “KPCC president and home minister G Parameshwar met Gowda at his residence and held talks. But senior Gowda didn’t assure anything,” added JDS sources.
It can be recalled that on Tuesday, Congress moved the no-confidence motion against DH Shankaramurthy alleging that he is partisan and BJP is illegally occupying the post even though it has no majority in the council.
