Bengaluru: The students of a Tumakuru government school, on the way back from a trip to the tourist places in the Dakshina Kannada district, were allegedly served alcohol when they requested water from their teachers.
The incident occurred near Hassan on December 10 when, according to the officials, the tired students asked their teachers for water. The teachers, in an inebriated state, handed them bottles containing alcohol. A few students felt queasy and vomited after consuming the alcohol.
The students’ parents complained to the authorities after which an inquiry was conducted by the deputy director of public instruction. The headmaster and two teachers were suspended.
