Bengaluru: Home Minister G. Parameshwara on Tuesday paid a surprise visit to the Madiwala Police Station and took few police officers to task.
The Home Minister did not even inform the police control room and arrived to the police station in a private car, it has been reported. He took many officers to task for not being in uniform. He reviewed the attendance register and ordered all those on the roster to report to duty immediately.
Speaking to reporters outside the station, Parameshwara said, “We have already issued a notification to carve out Bommanahalli police station from Madiwala, as it is a very large jurisdiction. We have discussed measures to be taken to form the new police station at the earliest,” he said.
He also said that he visited the station to get first-hand information on the problems in the State’s police stations. “I have listened to the issues of lower rank personnel and will try to solve them. I have issued directions to curb crime as well,” he said.
Home minister reviewed the crimes in Madiwala limits along with senior cops led by the Commissioner N.S. Megharik, Additional Commissioner P. Harisekharan and DCP Rohini Katoch Sepat.
He also took Inspector Nagaraj to task for failing to control rising crime and chain snatching incidents in the area.
