Bengaluru: Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy on Tuesday warned of strict action against those trying to disrupt peace in the name of God.

Addressing a pressmeet on November 4, Reddy said, “BJP leaders are trying to disrupt peace by politicising the issues in the name of Rama, Hanuma and Datta Peetha. Congress leaders have more faith and respect for Datta Peetha, Hanuma and Sri Ram. BJP leaders will not be allowed to disrupt law and order at any cost.”

Accusing BJP leaders of using foul language, Reddy said that BJP State president Yeddyurappa, union minister Ananth Kumar Heggade, MP Prathap Simha and other BJP leaders are involved in loose talk and they need to attend a special law and order related workshop.

Reddy also lashed out at the BJP in connection with Ram Temple and said, “they have their own government at the centre and on Uttar Pradesh. Who has stopped them from building Ram temple? They will not be able to build one in next 30 to 40 years too.”

In Chikkamagaluru, thousands of Dattamaladharis thronged the disputed hill shrine on Sunday to take part in rituals connected to Datta Jayanthi. As part of Datta Paduke Darshan ritual, the devotees shouted out slogans in praise of Lord Rama. In the already tense Bababudangiri-Dattapeeth issue that has left the Hindus and the Muslims at loggerheads, group of Dattamaladharis ended up hoisting the ‘Bhagwadwaja’ atop the hill.

However, the situation is under control and that about 307 cases have been filed so far.

In Hunasur, Prathap Simha was embroiled in a twitter war with Mysuru SP Ravi D Channannavar after he was arrested while taking out Hanuma Jayanthi rally in Hunsur in Mysuru.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah too criticized Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha for barging into a police barricade in Mysuru on Sunday and said his behaviour does not suit his status.

The Chief Minister told reporters here on Sunday, “Being a Lok Sabha member, he should have respect for the law of the land. Neither the state government nor the state police banned Hanuma Jayanti, but the state police had asked the procession organizers to take a detour, which should have been respected by him. Instead he chose to drive rashly and barged into police barricades. It speaks volumes about his culture.”
